“What a fabulous Landkey Carols Day we had! The kids stole the show as usual but a huge thank you to everyone who came to sing, Nick and Jon from Wren Music and to everyone who came to watch.”
“Friendly bunch and Nick was a brilliant teacher.”
“Preserving or recreating a wonderful piece of Landkey history - something I can just remember!”
“Absolutely brilliant! Good to see Agnes again after all these years! I don’t recall the horse drawn days but certainly a tractor and trailer on a time or two! I can recall Arthur Darch saying the famous words ‘sweet melodious sound’! I must try to get the harmonies for next year - but brilliant and well done to you all!”
“Haven’t heard those carols for 40+ years!”
“Did you manage to untangle the bass and tenor parts because they always seemed to have very interesting harmonies allowing the men to shine a bit at times?
My favourite was Ring the Bells - well the chorus was that sentence! Trouble was all those years ago not only did you not know the words the tunes were different too!
I recall Arthur Darch’s pitch pipe to this day and calling at selected Methodist’s homes on maybe 2 occasions each year when the group went around the village singing.
Wonderful times!”
“Well done everyone on show casing Landkey carols on BBC’s Spotlight.”
